Yup the guy is a tool.
On his personal blog the page titles start with his name rather than the post names. He is not using descriptive URLs. And he lists some of the month archives on the homepage, but none of the word-based categories. And he is not using any related posts plug in which could increase user engagement and help with cross linking.

And, fortunately, there are several relatively easy ways to handle this. One, you could bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppp in your .htaccess file. You may also wish to bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppp within Google Webmaster Tools. Or, use the recently introduced bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppp tag within your .
